and this heart that beats
walks with you down the dark street
we sit on a park bench
i am really drunk
a light weight
i beg you not to make fun of me
my head is hurting but i am thinking clearly
and stone dead sober you put up with me
for about an hour or something along those lines
an open invitation for me to have you unwind
Well I looked in your eyes
and I said with a straight face
do you want to?
and you said what
and I told you…….

and I planted my soft lips on your soft lips
an abbreviated sort of tally mark kiss
one that hopefully many will follow
and many will look and feel like this
my first kiss at college
a degree granting institution
and on the park bench at about midnight
I kissed you and made you feel uptight
but you smiled after
and when you left me on your doorstep
you cried away from everyone
but deep inside
you were my everyone
for brief seconds minutes
but as you say “leave me alone, you’re drunk”
